Phenomena
Contradictions of light and motion underlie this current work, in which I seek to use gestures and marks of the paint to portray an instant.
The paint, liquid to semi-solid when applied, can be moved, removed, or allowed to harden at any point in the process. I can use the full range of my body and tools to manipulate it. When the moment is right, the painting shows something in the process of happening, both literally (the picture is itself occurring) and figuratively (the picture portrays a moment of action.)
